SURFACE PROCESSING

We offer numerous finished types of sandstones to emphasise their natural characteristics and beauty. We use machines and hand-carvers for stone finishing.

Honed

Simple smooth surface exposing the natural texture of sandstone. Its sharpness depends on the natural granularity of the material.

Bush-Hammered

The repeated impact of a bush hammer chisel into the stone creates a rough, pockmarked texture that resembles naturally weathered rock.

Natural / Split Face

The natural finish is a result of the stone being cut by a guillotine or during the extraction process that fractures the face and turns it into a rocky finish.

Chiseled

A chiselled finish is created - as the name implies - by breaking a stone with a hammer and chisel. Depending on the type of chisel used and the skill level of the person using it, this can provide a very rough surface or a slightly irregular finish. A chiselled finish can be applied to any stone.
